From Mike Romaniak 2013: "This project began with a knock on a practice room door at Central Michigan University. I was practicing a couple new Lemon Bucket Orkestra tunes on sopilka when I was interrupted by the knock –they wanted to know what in the world I was playing. After hearing about the tune, they wanted to learn it, so we jammed it out for a few minutes and that was that. In the next couple of days, the same sort of thing happened more and more frequently, so we picked a night to get together, hang out, and learn some Eastern-European folk tunes. Keeping with the aural tradition, we learned tunes by ear, which was great for developing our ears, we explored the theory and history behind the music, and we still managed to save some energy for creativity and improvisation. "

From Ethan and Maddy 2017: Mike was a huge influence to this group, as was the Lemon Bucket Orkestra. Even having moved on for a couple years now, their influence still hits home with all of us to this very day. With that being said, they left us with many wonderful tunes, and the motivation to become closer through the joy of cultural music. Many members have come and gone in the past 5 years or so, but the group lives on through the tunes we play. We wanted to create a new project that could give something new to the group, and help to revamp some of the old. Enter "Oблігації," pronounced o-bli-hat-si-yi, which in Ukrainian means "bonds."

Featuring nine tunes, and an entire new band makeup, Oблігації brings you hype, good vibes, and of course, love! Every member on this album is different from our previous two albums, so it's a whole new sound! And of course, we wanted to include an homage to our lovely friends in the LBO by covering one of our favorite tracks, Sem Sorak. We hope you enjoy these new sounds with us!
